Amport School

Amport School was founded in 1815 by Sophia
Sheppard, a local resident, for the education of local children and still has
representatives of the Sheppard Trust on its governing body.
The school is now a voluntary aided Church of
England primary school catering for up to 84 children from the age of 4 – 11.
Pupils are taught in four classes. The catchment area of the school includes
the villages of Amport, East Cholderton, Monxton and Quarley, along with some small outlying
settlements.
Currently the school admits 12 Year R pupils
each September and there is usually a waiting list for occasional vacancies for
older children. The two most recent OFSTED reports have been very pleasing.
Music is a particular strength of Amport
School; opportunities for various sports are offered and after-school clubs
flourish. There is a very active PTA.
Pupils progress to a wide variety of local
secondary schools, nearby grammar schools and to private sector schools.
School involvement with the Parish Church and
the local community is considerable and many volunteers from the community help
within the school.

Attention all Times and Sunday Times Readers!
Amport
Primary School has signed up for The Times/Sunday Times Books for Schools
Scheme, which runs throughout the Spring Term (January to April). From January
11th, Books for Schools tokens will appear every day in The Times and The Sunday
Times. The school can exchange these tokens for free books from an extensive
range of titles. There will be 12 tokens printed every week, and with books
starting at only 10 tokens, you don’t have to be a regular Times reader to
really make a difference to the collection. Please collect as many tokens as you
can – the collection box is situated in the school’s reception area. Perhaps
you could consider asking colleagues, friends and neighbours to collect their
tokens on behalf of the school too?
We will be placing our first order at the end of the Spring Term, so please ensure
you have brought all your tokens to school by 20th April.
With your help, we can make a real difference to our library giving the children
access to some of the very best titles available to schools at the moment. Thank
you for supporting us with this scheme and Best Wishes.
