Four Parishes Arts Society - October 2006The society met on 12
September at Quarley Village Hall for the AGM, at which we elected a new
chairperson and two new members on to the committee. Sue Ryan has agreed to
steer us safely through another year and Enid Smith and Josie Taylor will join
our happy band. We hope they will all enjoy the experience. We say farewell to
Joan Leslie who returned to the role of coordinator for the past year and the
meeting expressed its thanks for her hard work. Rhoda Bucknill our past chair
and Petra Green, treasurer, are also leaving the committee and we very much
appreciate all they have contributed to the society in past years. Renata West concluded
the evening with an interesting and thought-provoking talk about her work as an
Art Therapist. She explained the route she had taken through the years in
developing her career and the great benefit art therapy has proved to be to many
sick and traumatized people. She was able to answer questions from the meeting
and her talk was much enjoyed. Next month we meet at
Monxton Village Hall at 8.00 p.m. on Tuesday 10 October for a talk by Wendy
Ellicock entitled 'Year-Round Gardening'. Don't forget to book
for the outing to Westonbirt and Chedworth Roman Villa on 24 October. Places are
going fast; it should be a good day out!
